Australia’s leading independent corporate and financial communication advisory firm, Citadel-MAGNUS, is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Ryan to the position of Director in the firm’s Perth office.

Paul brings extensive experience in the oil and gas and agriculture sectors, where he developed a strong track record of managing corporate reputations in challenging regulatory and stakeholder environments. Paul is adept at working with diverse and dynamic operations most recently as External Relations Manager at Shell Australia, where he was responsible for the management of non-technical risk for and reputation of Shell’s upstream assets.

He has provided strategic communication counsel across Australia’s metropolitan hubs and regional Western Australia, making representations to government, devising stakeholder engagement programs and effectively managing corporate and operational issues.

While at Shell Paul was responsible for developing and implementing significant change communication programs that involved project, resource and budget management for teams across Australia and New Zealand.

Paul’s career began as a journalist with The Kimberley Echo, GWN News, and The Countryman, and later became Industry Relations Manager at AWB, enabling him to establish a deep understanding of the Australian agribusiness landscape. At AWB, Paul gained invaluable experience working collaboratively with government and industry bodies across policy development, stakeholder engagement and providing input for change.

On his appointment as Director at Citadel-MAGNUS, Managing Director and co-founder, John Gardner, said: “We are thrilled to have Paul on board. From his extensive corporate affairs experience across the oil and gas and agriculture, and his history of consulting, Paul has developed expertise in strategic corporate communication, investor and government relations, issues and risk management, and reputation management.

“Corporate reputation is driving the Board agenda of companies of all sizes, across most sectors. Paul’s appointment to Citadel-MAGNUS strengthens our ability to provide high level, strategic corporate reputation advice and issue management counsel for our clients.”

Paul holds a Bachelor of Arts (Social Sciences) from Edith Cowan University.
